REFLECTION
I got my inspiration from this project from other teachers I have been associated with. They have binders full of lesson plans that they have prepared. They have used these plans in their classroom and fix and edit what works. I have seen this useful tool in their classroom, and how it benefits both them as a teacher and their students. I wanted to have this lead in when starting my career. Having lesson plans with a common theme helps make the school year run smooth. It gets to kids excited to learn about a specific subject each week, or every couple weeks.
- To start this project I found, and made lesson plan ideas. I found what other teachers have used and modified to fit my needs, and my personal ideas. After I had plenty of lesson plans I went through and narrowed it down to the best. As a teacher I want the best for my students, and this means teaching them with high quality lesson plans.
-My goal for this project was to create a binder full of lesson plans around the theme of community helpers. I complete this goal. I have an organized binder that will be easy to access the lessons as a need them.
- Working on this project I had to use my prior knowledge about what kids like and what they need to learn. I have taken my knowledge I have learned in my undergrad to complete this project. During this time I also was doing volunteer hours. This helped me see what professional teachers were teaching, and I learned a lot from them.
- I think SUU put this requirement in place to help have a footing in the work place. This shows future employers that we have done a project of our choice and have carried it out. The title of this project is explained in the a metaphor. EDGE - Education designed to give experience. This project has helped me gain more experience building a project, making a plan, carry it out until finished, and reflecting on it.
